Claims

We know how stressful it can be when you’ve had a motor accident, or when your car or motorbike has been stolen. That’s why, at NAC, we aim to make our claims process as easy as possible for you.

The claims process

  1. If something has happened to your vehicle, please call us as soon as you can on 0800 501 508. Your claims handler will ask for any information we need to get repairs underway (see below), or take you through what happens if your vehicle is a total loss.
  2. We assess your claim.
  3. If your claim is approved we will either:
    • Arrange the repair with an approved repairer or pay you the costs estimated by our assessor. If you choose one of our approved repairers we will guarantee their work for as long as you own the vehicle; or
    • Pay the market value up to the sum insured on your policy.

Information we will need to process your claim

  1. Pictures or a description of the damage
  2. Your details, address, phone, email, policy number if known
  3. Details of the other party(ies) involved - name, address, phone number and car registration number
  4. If your vehicle has been stolen we will need a police report.

Windscreen claims

Simply give us a call and we’ll take care of it (windscreen cover is only included in the car Comprehensive policy).

Important information

  1. Please take reasonable precautions to prevent any further loss or damage to your vehicle – always get your vehicle towed to a safe place if it is unable to be driven following an accident. The towing costs will be covered once the claim is accepted*.
    *Tow costs are not covered under Third Party only, or Fire, Theft and Storage insurance.
  2. Don’t spend any money on repairs or replacement parts without talking to us first. If it’s an emergency, go ahead, but keep any receipts to claim a reimbursement.
  3. If you believe you have caused damage to someone else’s property, don’t admit you are at fault. After the immediate stress has passed, you may find out that there were other reasons for the accident. Simply say you need to speak to your insurer and phone us on 0800 501 508.
  4. If you receive documents from anyone else about your claim give us a call as soon as possible.
